Teen Tuesday: Teen Girls Day & Faith

Tuesday, September 16, 2014
Today's Teen Tuesday is about Faith, and is written by my daughter. This is a continuation of the Teen Girls Day we had at our church building. But, these lessons are appropriate for boys and girls. This is written by Danielle Ringold.
Faith seems like one of the topics that become easier to understand as you get older. Is the idea of faith really that difficult? Probably not for most, however most of us do not experience faith building life events at a young age. When I was in high school trusting God to get me an A on a test was my perception of faith. When I got my test back and earned that A, I wiped the sweat off my brow and was thankful.
Now that I am older, I have come to realize I may have greatly misunderstood faith and I do not think it is uncommon for teenagers to not have a true grasp on what it is. With that being said, I knew I wanted to teach on faith at our Teen Girls Day.
In the faith lesson students will reflect on what faith is and hear a faith building story from their teacher.
The students will also engage in a class discussion about different ways the Bible describes faith.
The lesson plan also includes an activity and demonstration portion to make sure the teenagers remember what faith is.
One of my favorite Bible verses on faith is Matthew 17:20- So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Let’s teach our teenagers to have this kind of faith.

  2. I came across your blog by looking for resources on Jesus & the 12 disciples. As I read some of the posts, I am so thankful I found you! I have been looking for Bible lessons just like this. I teach 1st & 2nd grade Bible class at our church. I am so excited about the Lapbooks! I have been looking for something like this for awhile. To find something Biblically sound is wonderful. Just can't wait to use some of these ideas. Thank you, thank you, thank you from a Bible class teacher all the way in Mississippi from Strickland church of Christ!
