I have the kids add a page when I am teaching Acts and I know it is a shorter lesson. Paul was so thankful to God for all that He had blessed him with. I try to have the kids remember the every day things that we have that God blesses us with.
I also did this with my granddaughter, she's 3, and I think it is good for that age group also. I could let her do more fun stuff with the book, since we have the time at home. I just add stickers, etc. for class because I don't want class time to be filler time. I do more crafts/projects for Acts, but I do all the pre-work I can, and then the kids just assemble.
This is the cover, which doesn't need any work, except cutting it out and adding the punched hole. My granddaughter saw the flowers, and wanted to use them... so, we glued them on the front cover, and she loved the 'snow' we made with the glitter glue, so we made sparkly centers for the flowers. She loved that so much, I added a page for being thankful for the flowers, so she could do it again! I love smileys, so you will see them in a lot of my worksheets, but in case you want to create your own cover, I also added a plain choice without the smiley.
As with all my free printables, I am very limited on the graphics I am permitted to use, especially because they are freebies. I added them to the next page, in case you want to print them. Obviously, you don't have to use all the pages, and you can put them in whatever order suits you. The finished photos that you see are done by my granddaughter who is 3. So, some pages will be finished different for my 1st and 2nd grade Bible class.
When I use them for a lesson extra, I usually try to use something that goes with the Bible lesson that day. For instance, the mouth, will go with Paul teaching, etc.
For the home, I have them draw and color their home. Add trees, grass, sun, etc. For my granddaughter, she added a photo of her house. Click here for the page.
Next is family. They can write the names of parents, sibs, grandparents, etc. I tried to make the family members far enough away from each other in case you want to only use some of them. They will be easier to cut out that way.Or if you are doing this at home, you could add pics of people. Here is that page.
Next, I added friends. There is cute clipart to print, or, if you are doing this at home, you could add photos with their friends. Here it is.
For the food, I didn't add any clipart for this one. Everyone has such different tastes! But, you could use pics from magazines, diecuts, or stickers. I use stickers for class and my granddaughter. Print the food worksheet here.
Kissing the paper with lipstick on...she said, "This is fun!" And, wanted to do it again the next day!
The mouth is so much fun! There are so many different things to discuss. Especially how God wants us to control it. I had an Avon rep. friend that gave me her old lipstick samples. I let the kids pick one and kiss the paper. They LOVE that! We didn't share the germs that way. But I have also used wood stampers I bought on Ebay, and I have stickers I found at Hobby Lobby. Here it is.
For the hands, it is the most fun to do finger paint, which I did with my granddaughter. But, for class I use diecuts for them to glue to the paper. Here is the hands page.
Here is we are thankful for the animals, which is unlimited in possibilities!
Here is the animals page to print.
Here is I am thankful for the flowers. If you are doing this at home, it is a good page to add some info about bees, butterflies and/or ladybugs. You can buy packages of assorted flower petals. I let her pick a brad, then layer the petals for the flowers. She really liked that, and it added texture for her book. Then, she glued some diecut flowers so she could use the glitter glue, which she loved, to the centers for some sparkle. Click here for the flower page.
For the clouds, I did the obvious, and had them spread out cotton balls (I keep the cotton from medicine bottles just for this kind of project) and glue them down. I printed mine on blue cardstock. Here is the clouds page.
For the rainbows, I talked about promises. God kept His promise to Noah, and He expects us to keep our promises. I use diecut rainbows that are cut in sections. They can pick their colors that way. But I did add the clipart if you'd rather print it. Here is the rainbow.
We really discussed Noah and the ark and the animals when I did this with my granddaughter, so, maybe you'd like to look at Noah's Ark for some more ideas here.
We are thankful for the seasons, and everything God does to make this happen! This page is divided into the 4 sections. You can add stickers, or go for a walk and see what you can find to glue on the page. I didn't add extra printables for this because everyone will want something different depending on where you live. We added glitter glue for the snowflakes! You can print the seasons page here.
Next, we did the Bible. There is a Bible if you want to print it, again, I can't find a good Bible graphic I am permitted to use and give as a freebie. I use diecuts I found at Dollar Tree, and let them add some Bible stickers I have. Here is the Bible page.
I did the church building next. I like to reinforce that we are the church. As the scripture says, the churches of Christ salute you. A building can't salute! I have stickers for church buildings to use and I added a graphic if you want to use that. But, if you can get a good photo of your building, that would be better. That is what I usually use. Here is that page.
For Jesus, there is clipart you can print. I used stickers I have for this page. And, I talk about the fact that we don't know what Jesus looked like, this is just what someone thinks He looked like... Here is Jesus to print.
For the last page, they are thankful for me! Jesus loves them, we are thankful they are in Bible class, etc. This is one of the projects that I use their picture for. I always take their pics at the beginning of their year in my class and I use them for bulletin boards, projects/crafts, etc. Here is the me page.
