Jesus and His Miracles

www.biblefunforkids.com
Today's lesson is several different miracles that Jesus did. There is a two page fill-in-the-blank worksheet and we begin a Miracles lapbook.

Today we are going to discuss some miracles of Jesus and why He did miracles.  Jesus performed miracles to help prove that He was the Savior and to help people believe in Him. A miracle is an act of God.
(John 2:1-11) The first miracle of Jesus takes place at Cana in Galilee. There was a wedding feast and Jesus had some of His Disciples with Him.
Mary, His mother, told Jesus that there is not any wine. And He said to her, Why should it be a worry for Me? There were 6 pots (big enough to hold 20-30 gallons each).

Jesus told the servants to fill the pots to the top with water and then take some to the bridegroom. The master of the feast told  the bridegroom "Usually, people put out the good wine and keep the inferior wine for last, but this time you saved the best for last!" Bible verse for today: This is the beginning of signs that Jesus did, and His Disciples believed in Him.

(John 4:46-54) This is the second miracle that Jesus did. (John 4:54) There was a nobleman that had a sick son. When the nobleman heard that Jesus was in Cana, he went to Jesus and begged Him to go to Capernaum (about 20 miles away) to heal his son because he was close to death.

Jesus said that people wouldn’t believe in Him unless they saw Him do miracles. He told the man: “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed and left.

When the nobleman headed home, the servants met him and told him that his son lived! He asked the servants when his sons' fever left and they told him about 1 PM. He realized that was when Jesus told him, “Your son lives.” So he and his whole household believed.

(John 5:5-9) There was also a man that had an sickness for 38 years. Jesus could tell that he was sick for a long time. Jesus asked the man if he wanted to be healed and Jesus told him to “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately he was made well and walked away!

(Matthew 8:2-4; Mark 1:40-45; Luke 5:12-16) Jesus healed people with leprosy. That was a terrible disease back then. People that had this disease had to leave their families and live with others that had leprosy. If you touched someone that had it, then you would get it.
While Jesus was traveling, a man came to Him that had leprosy. He fell with his face on the ground and begged Jesus to heal him if He was willing. Jesus told him He was willing and He was filled with compassion. Jesus reached out and touched the man and He said “Be clean.” Immediately the leprosy was gone! Anyone else would have gotten the disease by touching the man, but not Jesus… He healed him!

(Luke 8:40-56) The last miracle that we are going to learn about today is found in Luke. There was a crowd of people waiting for Jesus. One of the people was Jairus. He was a ruler in the synagogue. He fell at the feet of Jesus and begged Jesus to go home with him. Jairus told Jesus that his only daughter was 12 and she was dying.

While Jesus was walking and talking to Jairus, a woman that had been bleeding for 12 years came from behind Jesus and touched the edge of Jesus' garment. She was healed immediately! She had spent all her money on doctors and they couldn't heal her! Jesus asked who had touched Him?

Peter asked Jesus "There are so many people here and they are pressing into You, and You ask who touched You?" Jesus said He felt power going out of Him. The woman came to Jesus, shaking, and fell down before Him. She said that she had touched Jesus and was healed immediately. Jesus told her to go in peace, because her faith has healed her.

While Jesus was talking, someone came from Jairus' home and told him that his daughter had died, and not to bother Jesus anymore. Jesus heard this and told Jairus not to be afraid, just believe and his daughter would be made well. When Jesus arrived at Jairus' house, He told everyone but Peter, James, John and her parents to stay outside. The people made fun of Jesus because they knew she was dead. Jesus took her hand and told her to "Arise". Jairus' daughter immediately got up! Jesus said to get her something to eat and her parents were astonished!
This is just a couple of the miracles that Jesus did. He healed so many people. Jesus healed the blind and the deaf. Jesus did miracles to prove to people who He was. The Apostles were able to perform miracles, and they could give a portion of that ability to people. They were the only ones able to cure people by a miracle. Obviously, since those people are certainly not alive now, being able to do miracles cannot happen now.
John 21:25 tells us: And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

This Miracles of Jesus foldable was added in 2016. I wanted a simpler version of the below worksheet. The students glued it into their interactive notebook after the lesson. Directions are included. I also added the save pictures as full size teacher's visuals. Click here to download.

I used this more in-depth worksheet for today's lesson. The students filled in the blanks as we discussed the lesson. Then, for review, we filled in the correct parts on the lapbook. Click on the picture to print the worksheet. (I printed mine on both sides) Click here for the teacher's answers copy of the above worksheet.
As a twist on the above worksheet, for a larger class I printed these Smiley faces. They are black & white and printed onto color paper (cardstock will work better). I attached then to large craft sticks and I asked the questions from the above worksheet and the students held up the correct face. I wanted them to understand that Jesus was/is able to do anything! You can print them here.

We will begin the Miracles lapbook today. The students will leave them in class until we finish the miracles lessons, then they take them home. Click on the lapbook to see it. I decided to limit this lapbook to the miracles that Jesus did to prove Himself. We will study Malchus, Resurrection of Jesus and Jesus Returns to Heaven, etc., but I did not include these. If you'd like to add other miracles, you can see more Jesus lapbook printables here. One of the great things about lapbooks is only using the parts you want to! And, another is that everything is contained right in the file folder.

  3. I love your work! Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your testimony of Jesus. You don't need to post this...I just wanted to let you know that miracles haven't stopped. Maybe we will have to wait until the Saviors return to see His personal healings again, and we often have to have faith not to be healed because challenges are still part of this life, but I have seen His hand at work still. Miracles still can happen through faith on the Savior.

Hi - Wanting to challenge this comment on you site :(. Miracles still happen today! And through oridinary believers. Jesus promised that we would the things that he does too. John 14:12:
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

James 5:16b says that the earnest prayer of righteous person has great power and produces great results.
Just want to encourage you to believe that God by His Holy Spirit is still at work through believers today. Let us have faith in Him.

    1. I am talking about miracles that are in the Bible. An INSTANT healing. No therapy, no doctor with medicine healing over time. INSTANT. We cannot heal a person, for instance, born blind with an INSTANT healing from a miracle. There is more info with a lot more scripture @ https://www.biblefunforkids.com/2012/12/eutychus.html
