A Hands-On game idea by Jeanne Dickson! A File Folder Game and worksheet, too!

Thanks so much to Jeanne Dickson for sharing this Hands-On game idea and photo.

Jeanne was studying about Elijah and the prophets of Baal. As a last minute idea, she decided to play this game, tentatively titled "Fire From God." The idea is to have each child/team build an altar.

Jeanne asked a question, first one to raise hand gets to answer first. If they get the correct answer, they start building their altar by adding a "stone" aka boxes that  ink cartridges come in (they are nice and sturdy).

The bottom layer has three boxes, with one laid across the top, followed by three more boxes, then one. " Okay, I'll admit that I only had sixteen boxes, so that's the size I went with!"  You can make it as large as you want, using whatever boxes you have handy. If a child misses an answer, it goes to the other team. The last question to be answered correctly receives "fire from God."

The fire was purchased from Amazon and there are several choices here. There is one at Oriental Trading, also.

The kids really enjoyed this game.  There were only two little girls in class, but the older one held back on answers she knew, so the little one would have a shot at answering. They were tied at the final question, with the older child winning. A little reward was given to both for answering the questions so well.

This is the File Folder Game printables. The cover is first. Just cut around the black border and glue. The left and right for the inside are next. The left side might need trimmed to fit correctly. The answer stones are next. The student will place them on the correct person's side. Easy, but they will have to think about some of them. The fire is optional and has directions. Glue an envelope to the back to store the answer stones. Or put them into a plastic baggie to keep in the folder when not using.

This worksheet is created the same with the stones blank. The students can write the differences as you review. The color and black & white are both included. There is an answer sheet with the scriptures.
