Jesus Has Breakfast & Returns to Heaven
This is the last lesson for the Life of Jesus series! There is a new Flow Chart that discusses Heaven with scriptures and Lift-the-Flap fill in the blank answers.

After Jesus died on the cross, Jesus rose out of the tomb, just like He said He would. The scriptures for this lesson are Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:14-20; Luke 24:36-53; John 20:30-31; John 21, Acts 1:1-11. There are a lot of scriptures listed since all four gospels need to be put together to have all the facts.

Jesus met with His Disciples and at first, they were scared. Until Jesus showed them His hands and feet and let His Disciples touch Him! Jesus had to prove to them that He really did live again! (Mark 16:14)
Jesus spent some time with His Disciples. He gave them an understanding of the Old Testament. (Luke 24:44-45) Jesus told them that they needed to understand the laws and prophecies. Jesus also wanted them to understand repentance and remission of sins. They were to start in Jerusalem and be His witnesses to the things that Jesus told them and the things that they had seen. (Luke 24:46-48) The Disciples would get the power from the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:49)
The Disciples were waiting to see Jesus again, and Peter decided that he was going fishing. Six other Disciples tell him they would go also. (Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, the brothers: James & John and two more Disciples not named) (John 21:1-3)
They were at the Sea of Galilee. They fished all night, but they did not catch any fish. In the morning, there was a man on the shore, and they didn’t know who He was. He asked them if they had any food and they said no.
He told them to “Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” (John 21:6) When they tried to pull up the net, it was so full of fish, they couldn’t pull up the net! (Another miracle)

John told Peter that it’s Jesus! Peter was so excited that he pulled on his coat and jumped into the sea and swam to the shore! The other Disciples went in the fishing boat and brought it to the shore, dragging the full net behind them. (About 100 yards) The net was too full to pull into the boat!
Once they landed on shore, they saw a fire with fish laid on it and there was bread also. Jesus told them to “Bring some of the fish you just caught.” Simon Peter went over and dragged the net onto land. It was full of large fish! There were 153 fish, and the net wasn’t torn! Jesus told them to “Come and eat breakfast!”
When they went over to Jesus, He gave them bread and fish to eat. This is the third time that Jesus showed Himself to the Disciples after He rose from the dead. (John 21:14)

Some days later, the eleven Disciples went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. (Matthew 28:16; Mark 16:14) Judas wasn't there, since he betrayed Jesus for the 30 pieces of silver. (Matthew 28:16-20) They were sitting around a table, and Jesus told them that they should have had more faith in Him. (Mark 16:14) Jesus said that He has all authority and He told them to "Go, make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe all things I have told you." Jesus also told them that He would always be with them. (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus said that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved. (Mark 16:16)

Forty days after the resurrection of Jesus, (Acts 1:3) He talked to His Disciples, and after Jesus was done speaking, He was taken up into Heaven behind the clouds and sat on the right hand of God. (Mark 16:19-20)

There were two men in white clothes standing beside the Disciples. The two men asked them "Why are you staring at heaven where Jesus went? Someday, Jesus will return the same way that He left." And they went to Jerusalem worshipping and praising Jesus.

John also tells us that we are not told everything that Jesus did. He said that if everything was written down for us, there wouldn't be enough books to hold it all! (John 21:25)

I collected sticks for the students to “cook” foam (or cardstock) fish (Accucut jumbo fish) over the fire like Jesus did. I also had a basket of bread to eat. (I handed out round crackers and goldfish... Happy time! They love snacks and they are rare in my class!)

Picture on left: I have been using the blow-up fire found here for my class. I needed something quick and easy for my Wednesday night class and I found this one. They love it just as much and it is so much easier to use! And, I don't have kids knocking the parts over.

We gathered around the campfire for the Bible lesson, then did our worksheet and craft at the table.

This week's printable is a Flow Chart that discusses heaven. There are scriptures to look up and fill in the blank questions. This is mostly to reinforce that God created heaven and Jesus is there waiting for us. Kids love lift-the-flaps, and this can be used for heaven discussion starters. You can print it in color or black & white. Click here to download.

This download has been updated to be able to glue Jesus back-to-back (2 per page).

This is an idea that you can use for this lesson. Jesus told the Disciples to go teach. Jesus also them that He would make them fishers of men. This is a good project to help explain what Jesus meant. There are several printing choices. You can see them here.
