This is the third lesson for our VBS this year called Peter's Perseverance.
Peter went from denying Jesus in the last lesson to baptizing about 3,000 people!

I used this paper for the cloudy sky. This wall is 18' long and I wanted to make the bottom look like Peter on his roof looking at the sheet coming down. I used this tan bulletin board paper for the roof. To save time and my hands, I used terra cotta Duck Tape found at Wal Mart (or wherever) for the roof edge. I love using Duck Tape and Washi Tape for VBS! It makes such nice straight lines and is so easy to use. There are so many choices of colors and patterns, too. I just cut black cardstock for the windows on the roof building on the far left.

I also found the stand-up urns here on sale. I like the stand-up items to make it 3-D for the kids. I figured for the price, the look and the pop, it was worth it. Plus, it can be reused also. I found the ferns here. I added a tall basket and pot to complete the roof top.

I asked if anyone on Facebook had an old flat (preferably white) sheet I could have for VBS. Ramona brought one for me, so that was free! I tied the corners and laid it on the floor to see about sizing. There are a lot of different ways to make the animals in the sheet. You can ask for stuffed animals, but I wanted more realistic animals. So, I found different animals @ www.pixabay.com and enlarged them onto several different pages. I printed them onto cardstock and cut out the parts. Then the piecing began. Some are harder than others. The giraffe was tricky. But, you basically only need the faces and necks as shown above. You do not need the legs. You can piece them however you want to. The fox and alligator will be inserted at each end of the sheet opening.

I included the original picture so you can see how the pieces go together, but they are not numbered or anything like that. I taped them together, then glued them once I had them correct. You can find more animals @ www.pixabay.com.

Application: Paulette plans the application portion of the class and it is usually some type of game. For this lesson, she brought a giant ball. She also brought some big potatoes; but, used the ball instead. So, you could play hot potato. Everyone stood in a circle and she passed the ball to each student. She asked questions like What can you do to teach someone about Jesus? What can you teach someone about Jesus? Who can you teach about Jesus? Where can you teach about Jesus? Who does Jesus love? Does Jesus love you? Application questions about the lesson. They got to get up and move and pass a ball around. What is more fun than that and they are learning about God!

*Just a note* For the crafts for this lesson, Sara purchased handkerchiefs. The kids were given animal stencils and fluorescent paint to design their 'blanket'. They wrote their names and can wear them, too!

I created these Bible Verse Handouts for each lesson. I just printed on regular paper, cut the page into thirds and attached it to a small handout. For this lesson, I purchased this style bracelet. After tucking the bracelet inside and rolling the Bible Verse, I used these teeny rubber bands to put everything together.

To use the Magnetic Board Visuals: Print on cardstock, cut out and laminate. Add magnets on the back to use as Magnetic Board Visuals. Or, they can be held up as you teach to use as visuals. They can be used on a bulletin board also. These are in color only. *The lesson is included in the download and has the corresponding numbers to use with the visuals.
