Preschool Alphabet: W is for Water = Jesus is Baptized
Preschool at home ideas and printables!
We are learning the letter W this week, and we are talking about Jesus being baptized. You can find His baptism in Matthew 3. Jesus went to John His relative to the Jordan River and asked John to baptize Him. John told Jesus that He should be baptizing him!
But, John agreed and they went into the water. The original Greek word was baptizo and means submerge or burial.
When Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened to Him and the Spirit of God came down like a dove and said "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Jesus was about 30 years old when He started His ministry. (Luke 3:23)

This set you see in the pictures is in the download packet after the maze photo. There is a Jesus & John so they can walk and talk. There is also a Jesus & John and the dove for when Jesus is baptized. The page with the water is printed on blue cardstock and I used my craft knife to open the paper between the water and the sky, leaving the ends attached. I glued each piece to a craft stick because they love it! We talked about Jesus & John meeting at the Jordan River, then used the other pieces to go into the water. Jesus can go all way under by pulling the stick down.
I printed the water onto blue cardstock, and I had Sea Life Foamies from the Summer collection at Hobby lobby that they added to the water. We could talk about God made the water, and the fish and colors also. This would also be good for creation. The water background is in the download, also a page of fish if you want to print them, but you could also use stickers.
Again, she loves mazes and it is the first thing she wants to do after we talked about Jesus! They will take Jesus through the maze to John. There are always other printables in the alphabet packs which includes several pages like W is for Whale, etc. and not necessarily from the Bible. There is W is for Watermelon, and I looked everywhere for seeds to glue to the page, but they were not in stores yet, so that is an idea you could do. There are always retelling cards to print and let them tell you what they learned about the Bible. And, there are always one or two pictures to color of the Bible facts for each letter. Click here to print everything.
Here are a couple of W books we used this week. We also read The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli. They love Mrs. Wishy Washy!

  4. Hi. I just printed part of the lesson to use for teaching tomorrow. I also have a one year old grandson I am going to send this link to for my daughter. WE were homeschoolers for part of our military career, and I think this would be useful for her! Thank you!
