King Josiah is lesson 6 in our through the Bible lesson series for preschoolers.
This is a fun lesson about doing what God wants.

King Josiah is found in the Old Testament. Josiah was 8 years old when he became the king of Judah! He was a king for 31 years. He was faithful to God.

King Josiah told Shaphan the scribe to go to the temple. While the temple was being repaired, the high priest found the Book of the Law. After reading it, Shaphan took the Book of the Law to King Josiah.
Shaphan the scribe showed King Josiah, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” Shaphan read it to the king. After the book of law was read to King Josiah, he was so upset, King Josiah tore his clothes! King Josiah said God has a lot of anger because we have not obeyed His words in the book!
King Josiah was so upset and humble (meek) towards God. King Josiah was trying to find God's answers. And, God was happy with King Josiah.
King Josiah gathered everyone together at the temple. He read the whole Book of the Law to all the people that had come to the temple.

Then King Josiah stood by a pillar and made a promise to God. King Josiah said he would follow the Lord and keep His commandments and God's laws with his whole heart. All the people agreed to follow God’s Book of the Law!

The Bible tells us that King Josiah loved God with all his heart and stayed faithful to Him.

The lesson is found in 2 Kings 22-23.

I found this really cute idea here for this style book. So, I wanted to use it for a preschool Bible lesson. They loved using King Josiah on a string. As you review the lesson, they can place Josiah on top of each page. There is a happy and sad Josiah. If you glue the front cover leaving the top open, it creates a pocket to store King Josiah in. The color and black & white are both included. Click here to download.

I decided to create crowns for the king and queen lessons in this series. I kept them simple for preschool and because I will let them attach gems to them. They include color and black & white. Click here to download King Josiah.
