Elijah and the widow of Zarephath
Elijah with King Ahab and the fire from Heaven
Thanks to Jeanne Dickson for sharing her ideas and photos!

The photos should give you an idea on how to recreate the scene with what you have on hand.

Jeanne takes corn meal and oil to class, uses a wooden bowl and spoon,  mixes it up and pretends to cook it! The photos show the supplies you need to recreate this hands-on visual.

Jeanne cooks the cakes the night before, so they are ready for class. Note the top picture with the cooked corn cake. That is what they will look like if you make Jeanne's recipe.

Corn Cakes Recipe shared by Jeanne Dickson

You will need 1 ½ Cups corn meal, 1 ½ Cups boiling water and oil for frying.

Pour boiling water into the corn meal and beat the mix as you add enough to make a smooth batter that is stiff enough to shape. Mold into a flat oval shape.

Heat the oil in a 10” skillet until sizzling hot (but not smoking hot). Lay the cakes in the oil and fry moderately fast until they are a rich golden brown for about 3-4 minutes. Do not turn until this rich color develops Then brown the other side.

Pretend that you are sharing a meal with Elijah, the widow and her son.

Jeanne set up these altars using boxes, sticks and the stuffed animals.
If you have one box, just draw the lines for the stones. Don't forget the trench!

Here are the altars with the 'water' and 'fire' added!
