We made an Ark of the Covenant for VBS for our daughter.
We made it as cheap as possible because it needed to be done fast and we didn't know if it would be kept and reused, so we wanted to keep the cost down. This is about half the size as described in Exodus 25:10-22. For their use, the top does not open, so this is a basic visual aid.

Supply List

This is the box we purchased. It is about half the size of the original ark.

This is the dental ornamental moulding that runs all around the box at the top. Besides adding a beautiful upgrade to the box, it makes it look like it has a lid. There are a lot of choices for decorative moulding, and you can substitute your choice, or what is in stock, to match a decorative accent to add texture to the sides of the box.

This is the glue we used.

For the rings to hold the poles, we found these.

We bought 2 of this foamboard, but any foamboard will work. Dollar Tree's is thinner and smaller.

We bought 2 of these to use as the poles to carry it and 2 of these plugs for the ends.

We used 2 cans of this gold spray paint but whatever gold you can find cheapest should work.

I used the bronze Sharpie in this package to outline the wings.

It can be more decorative. The lumber stores have decorative wood accents that can be purchased to make it beautiful. We just didn’t want to spend the additional money.

The supply list is not included in the file.

The detailed directions with pictures are included in the download with the template for the cherubims.
