I was asked to create a couple of visual aids for a different congregation.

The VBS they chose is Unsung Hero.

The people Naaman - King Josiah - Jesus Feeds the 5,000+

For Naaman, I was asked to make a letter from the King of Syria to be delivered to the king of Israel. The servant girl is the Unsung Hero for this lesson. I was asked to make the letter oversized. I used Pacon Manila Tagboard #5134 12" x 18" paper. Using a home printer, I had to trim one side to fit in the printer. I cut and glued a wax seal on the back top and tied it with purple ribbon.

The download includes

1. the wording only

2. words on parchment

3. blank parchment for the back, or to use as you need

4. the wax seal with a crown

Some idols were needed for King Josiah. I researched the common idols during his time, and the information is in the file. I chose to make 4: Baal (stone), Asherah (stone), calf (wood), and sun, moon, and stars (gold). I broke them down into pieces and enlarged them, printed on cardstock, and pieced them together like a puzzle.

I glued them on precut cardstock and put each on a pedestal (box 18x18x24 with the 'pedestal' being 24".) I covered with (Galvanized) stone bulletin board paper. It is darker than the picture shows and look like stones. There are several options that will work for this. If you can, have them professionally printed on cardboard. I didn't have the time or money to do so. If you request the file to cut and glue one, I will add it here. Ask for a specific idol, or all four.

King Josiah is the Unsung Hero.

I was asked to make a scroll which takes more time (and money) to do it right but is worth it since it can be used for so many lessons. I purchased a roll of Kraft paper (17 1/2" wide.)

We purchased these 4 wood circles, and we purchased the Finial tips here.

We purchased a 7/8" x 48" dowel rod. They were out of 1".

For more fun and realism, we purchased this pointer. They didn't touch the paper on the scrolls.

The last lesson was Jesus Feeds the 5,000+. The Unsung Hero was the boy who provided the food.

This was easy! I chose a basket without a lid with handles (12x8x5). I wanted easy access to the food inside.

You can find the fish here. I use this bread. (Research shows the bread was a flat bread 4-6" round.)

For a snack, use Goldfish or Swedish Gummy fish, and round crackers.
