I finally took some time to clean out my storage cabinet in my classroom! You can see the before and after and how to make your own!

Ha! I probably shouldn't begin with a photo of how bad my cabinet looked inside! But, yes, it has been getting on my nerves and I just haven't had the time to clean it up. You can't tell from this picture, but I really do like things to be in order so I can find it when I need it. I like having supplies in my class in case I forget something. I buy a lot of my supplies in August when school supplies are put in the stores and on sale. We teach the same students for a year and they move up at the beginning of June. So, I pretty much keep stuff here for almost a year.
Well, if you didn't know, I like Pinterest. A lot. ☺ I stumbled across this idea for storage. There are a lot of ideas using these. And, yep, I liked it and decided I could do this. But, everyone has different needs. My supplies are kept in the above locked cabinet. So, I need everything to fit inside it. From all the pins I found, I store some different items. Depending on the age of the students and how you plan to arrange stuff, everyone will have different needs.

After looking at everything in the cabinet, I stopped at Lowes to look at the drawer cabinets. They didn't have any measurements online and I wanted to see them in person. They were not as deep as I wanted (and thought they'd be) and after wandering around a couple of departments, I didn't see anything else that thrilled me.

I decided to use these 6 quart containers to put the items like crayons, glue sticks, pens & pencils, etc. You can find them pretty cheap at your local Dollar Tree, Lowes, Home Depot,  Target or Wal Mart.  For the bigger items like a stash of bulletin board borders, clipboards & paper, etc., I used the 12 quart plastic containers.

And, because I have a new printer that refuses to print color, I purchased chevron scrapbook paper for the background. I used color cardstock for the accent bands and printed the labels on cardstock. This way, you can use you own color and style choices also. There are a lot of free labels already with a design at the Pinterest link below. I also used Rust-oleum American Accent white paint  that bonds to plastic (Wal Mart) to change the color of the unit. Several of the Pinterest posts can show you how to paint it. My husband used sand paper to buff it slightly, then we laid it on newspaper and painted!

I use the baby wipes to clean my white board and the rubber stampers the kids are using for their Acts Passports. The directions for cutting the background sheets are included in the download.
I have several Teacher Supply Room posts coming, when I have time to work on them!
