Joseph is found in the book of Genesis (39-40). Genesis is the first book in the Old Testament. Jacob has 12 sons and Joseph is one of them. Jacob gave Joseph a coat of many colors. Joseph’s brothers were so angry!

Joseph went to the fields to check on his brothers, and they decided to take Joseph’s coat from him and throw him in a pit. When Joseph’s brothers sat down to eat, Midianite traders came by, and they sold Joseph for 20 pieces of silver. The traders took Joseph into Egypt.
Joseph did very well as a servant in Egypt. He lived with Potiphar and God was with him. Joseph was a good person, and everyone liked him.
When Potiphar’s wife told a lie about Joseph, Joseph was taken to prison. God was with Joseph. The prison guard even trusted Joseph to guard the prison!
While Joseph was in prison, the chief butler and chief baker made Pharaoh angry, and he put them in prison with Joseph. They both had a dream and told Joseph.

The butler said there was a branch with three vines and the blossoms popped open and became ripe grapes. The butler told Joseph that he had Pharaoh’s cup in his hand, and he took the grapes and pressed them into the cup and gave it to Pharaoh. Joseph told him that the 3 vines meant 3 days and the butler would be serving Pharaoh in 3 days just like he used to.

The chief baker saw that Joseph understood the butler's dream; he decided to tell Joseph about his dream. He said “I had three white baskets on my head. In the top basket were all kinds of food for Pharaoh, but the birds came and ate them off of my head.” Joseph told the baker that the three baskets meant he would die in three days.
In three days, it was Pharaoh’s birthday, and he had a party for Pharaoh gave the chief butler his job back, and the baker died. But the chief butler forgot to tell Pharaoh about Joseph even though everything happened just like Joseph said. God helped Joseph explain the dreams and was with Joseph. Joseph stayed faithful to God.

This foldable includes the color and black & white (of Joseph). Just print Joseph on one side, the bars on the other and fold so Joseph is inside prison. Click here to print.
I purchased these Joseph sticker sets and divided them according to each lesson for the four weeks. Each pack makes enough for 3 students.

We used this Flip Chart Song that goes over the Life of Joseph. I divided Joseph into 4 lessons, and we sang it each week. Click here to download it.

We used these Magnetic Board Visuals to teach the Joseph lessons. Joseph is divided into 4 lessons and some of these will be used for more than one lesson. These are combined into this one download and includes all the visuals for all the Joseph lessons. Click here to download the set of Joseph MBV.

Also, I combined the four lessons into one download to be used with the MBV. These are the same lessons but have the corresponding numbers to use each visual. Click here for the MBV lessons.

  1. I do not understand your Joseph in prison foldable? Can you show what it would look like folded please?

    1. The foldable requires the paper to be printed on both sides. One side has the prison bars, and the inside has Joseph in prison. After both sides are printed, fold on the dotted lines on each side of Joseph to cover him with the bars. Open the bars, and you can see Joseph in prison. The picture above shows the general picture with the left side open to see Joseph inside, so if the left side is closed, it is ready to use. You can print Joseph and fold on the dotted lines and let the students draw lines for the bars if you prefer.
