God Makes the Animals: Kangaroos

Monday, July 30, 2018
This is part of our preschool learning we did at home. It includes ideas that can be used at home to learn about God's creation. *This is intended for home use or preschool (or kindergarten) classes. They are not intended for Bible class.*
We began our study about kangaroos with these information posters I created. They are two to a page to save printing. They have a real photo and information text easy for preschoolers to understand and hold their interest. Click here to download.
I used 2 pieces of paper (construction or cardstock) and added string to tie the kangaroo pouch around their waist. (Glue along the sides and bottom only. Use paper punch to add a hole on each side of the top to insert the ties.)  I gave each of them a jelly bean to put in the pouch first. Then after they hopped around for a bit, I gave them this kangaroo to add to the pouch. Fun!
I found the free kangaroo craft here
We read Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too? and then they matched up the baby animals listed in the book to their moms. They enjoyed this worksheet. I used photos of real animals and this is in color only, although you can set your printer to black and white to print. There is a one page worksheet with the moms and the babies on another page to cut and lay on the moms.
We looked at these books from the library. This means this is what our library had available. If there is not a link, then it was not on Amazon at the time of posting. I suggest looking at your library to see what is available for free and if you love any of the books, then purchase them. Most of these are not really for preschoolers.
These were the favorite kangaroo books:
