This was the design for this year's Great Escapes VBS.
The designs were created by a lot of people; I just took the pictures.
It takes a lot of people to put on a great VBS!
The first night was The Fiery Furnace
The second night was Daniel Escapes the Lion's Den
This is a close-up of the right side so you can see the extra details like the skulls, bones, rocks, etc., things that would be at the bottom of the lion's den.The third night was Paul and Silas Escape Prison
Notice all the details to design this! The wall torches and chains added to the prison stone wall. The foot stocks are great and usually not included in people's displays, and note the mouse on the top, right of the stocks. The cell was made with pool noodles and painted. They looked fantastic! The background is a stone wall fabric background.
The fourth and last night was Jesus Escapes the Tomb
Note the NOW SHOWING Gallery wall with posters for each night.Another group designed the auditorium.
Next are the hallway designs which another group created:
Babylon wall for the fiery furnace & DanielThe Fiery Furnace is huge and really amazing! The inside was made with a fire looking fabric inside and orange streamers hanging in the opening. Note the outside walls details, though. Each of the 'stones' were bulletin board paper that were cut, crumbled, and attached to the wall, then painted.
The Lion's Den was brown crumbled bulletin board paper, and lots of lions, a mix of cardboard and stuffed. The area is part of the hallway leading to the classrooms. It was very dark, so these are the only pictures. Someone was dressed as Daniel in the den.
All the walls were created with the same stones as the Fiery Furnace which made it 3-d. They added the plastic stones to cover the ceiling, add the torches and paper chains, and notice the window with the night scene and black plastic bars.

This is the section leading to the tomb. It includes the donkey, the cross, palm trees, and cloud balloons hanging from the ceiling.
The tomb is open, walk inside and both sides of the walls were covered with the 'stone' and the cloths laying inside, and black bulletin board paper covering the ceiling. The tomb walls were made from brown crumbled bulletin board paper with some stuffed under to create the 3-d effect.
