Caterpillar and Bible Boxes

Caterpillar to Butterfly Box & Song and Bible Box Visual
First, the Caterpillar to Butterfly Box
For the caterpillar box, I bought a box at Hobby Lobby. For how cheap it was, it was worth it to me to have a sturdy, already nicely finished outside. But, you could use a shoe box and cover it.
Both of these ideas are also from the Teachers Workshop I attended. This caterpillar box is for preschool ages, but the Bible box could be used for any age, with the right item tucked inside.
This is the inside of the box, with the caterpillar inside. I used 3, since I babysat 3 and I can let them hold the caterpillars. Plus, I bought them at Dollar Tree, and they happened to have different color faces.
The butterflies were purchased at Hobby Lobby. There are different sizes. You could also print and glue one to save the money. These look more real to me though, and kids like that factor.
Here is the song and you can print it here.
This song was given to me at the Teachers Workshop. I do not know the original owner.
There is also a flipchart that I made into a booklet in the Ideashop Magazine from Gospel Advocate if you have the old issues. It is in the Spring, March/April 1988, page 12 issue.
This Bible is a paper Mache book that I painted black. I painted the outside edges (that would be pages) metallic gold. I added the lettering with rub-ons I have in my scrapbook stash, but they could be painted on. I sliced a small line with my craft knife and slid the ribbon through for the marker. I glued that inside with the Aleene's Tacky Glue.
Now, you have a Bible that is a empty box inside to put unlimited visuals inside! This is an old concept, which I saw at the Teachers Workshop.
But, no matter how old of an idea it is, it might be new for someone else!

Jesus Loves All the Children File Folder Game

All I have to do is say "Let's play a game!" And it's fun to learn!
I will randomly post Bible things that I do with my grandchildren. They are preschool ages.

Stephen is Persecuted
This file folder game (FFG) will be as review and the students can take home.

Ananias & Sapphira
This is such a good lesson! It can really make the kids think about consequences for their actions.

Bible Verses for Bible Class

(Grades 1 & 2, this year) We start our Bible lesson by reading a Bible verse. (I have done this for years, and it works for me.) I used to buy different things to hold the Bible verses with each change of study. For instance, I would have a wood box for Life of Jesus, then when I change to Acts, I would use metal mailboxes, or whatever I could find enough of. With the cost of things now, and double the kids to buy for (it's a great thing!), I have them use the same container for the whole year they are in my class. This is what we are using this year. You can print the lunchbox cover here.
We look up and read the scripture (NKJV). It is hard for some of the first graders, since they can't read, or just starting to, but they can understand looking for the numbers and reading the books across the top of the pages.
They also need to learn, and understand, what Book, Chapter, & Verse means. By the time they leave the class, they can look up their own scriptures. Here is one that is coming up in Acts:
They all have some sort of  'clue' picture and the Bible scripture all written directly from the NKJV Bible they are going to read it from. I usually fit 6 to one sheet of paper.
After the year, they will take home all their Bible verses.
Kids love routine, to a point. And I say that because things can be such a routine, it can get boring. But, I leave everything set up for them, and they come to Bible class, see their names on everything and they can find their seats easy. Pretty much the same seats, unless I need the visual aid space, or we are acting it out, etc.
I make their workbooks and lapbook (or whatever) and they take that home also.

Acts & Life of Paul Bulletin Boards

Let's Study God's Word Bulletin Board

We are getting ready to finish up (condensed) Life of Jesus. I try to teach the basic life of Jesus first, with some miracles and parables that are fun for the students and that they probably do not remember hearing before. Jesus and His life is Who we need to know, and then I will teach about 30 lessons on the book of Acts, and Paul's life. (Grades 1 & 2) So, all walls and bulletin boards need to be changed!
